6 Aug. 04 I am not in any way done with learning how to be a good wife, however, I have been praying to be a better wife for years. Today I learned to not uncover my husband. To not show him his faults. Yep, *I* learned that! Well, you know I'm always learning so I'm sure this isn't a done deal. Steve left the cheese out overnight. As I was picking up in the kitchen, I saw it. 'Oh no, he left the cheese out', I groaned. As I was just beginning to think, 'I'll tell him', the Holy Spirit said, 'don't tell him. He puts a lot of things away, and he always puts the groceries away. As Noah's sons backed up and covered their father, you cover Steve'. And here's a HUGE new thought for me. As I decided to obey the Holy Spirit, I was released from angry feelings, and instead I was flooded with love feelings!!! Isn't that awesome???? It's a feeling of being WITH Steve in marriage, instead of us always being at odds against each other. Now I feel more loving, more forgiving toward him. ALL because I decided to listen and obey the Holy Spirit instead of havng my way. It's a private victory. I learned about 'private victories' at a Streams Ministries seminar last weekend. God wants to see us having consistent private victories before He will give us public victories. And what was so cool in learning that, was for the past several months, I have not asked Steve to acknowledge me when I have changed something. He never did acknowledge me, and I would get SO upset. One day God said, 'Janine, just tell me, you don't have to get kudos from him, it will be just between you and me'. So I have been having quick trysts with God with my private victories. It makes my relationship with the Lord much more between he and I and I am learning to keep my mouth shut and to be a better wife.
