Anointing oils. Oils of blessing. Oils of prosperity. How does this all fit in the Bible? I'm concerned. A well known Christian ministry sells oils in roll-on bottles that are supposed to bring prosperity. WHAT??? Where is this in the Bible? I have looked and looked in the Bible, searching for something, anything, that says to make an anointing oil to bring prosperity into anyone's life. They have another called, 'My Life Will Profit'. How is that going to happen by rubbing an oil on yourself? They may say, this oil is prayed over and via the strength of our prayers, God will bless and infuse this oil with profitability. I didn't put it in quotes because I don't want to give the impression they did say that. They have not. As a matter of fact, this ministry doesn't answer any questions about selling these oils. Or candles. HOW is burning a candle going to bring me prosperity? How is it going to profit me? Doesn't this smack of witchcraft to anyone else but me? Ok, witchcraft is too strong a word for you? How about NEW AGE? The 'New Beginnings' oil is said to be a combination of the 'seven species of Israel'. Well. The 7 species of Israel are wheat, barley, pomegranate, olive, fig, date, grape and olive. So, there ARE oils of [wheat germ], pomegranate [pomegranate], olive [reg or virgin], grape [grapeseed]. There is NO oil of barley, there is NO oil of fig, and there is NO date oil. There is a palm oil, from the palm tree. I GUESS one could stretch it and say it's a DATE PALM tree and it's oil from there. But that is not the Biblical Date. So clearly, these oils this ministry sells are not what they say they are. Plus the fact that this 'New Beginnings' oil SMELLS exactly like a fragrance oil. And yes, being in a business that uses both essential oils and fragrance oils and being blessed with an ultra sensitive nose, I DO know the difference! I have written to them about this. I have never received a response about my concerns from either one of these ministries. Then, to top it all off, this ministry has a school, from which they sell DVD's to those that cannot attend the school in person. On one of the DVD's there is a woman saying 'all things are created to praise God'. Yes, I believe that. Then she goes on to say 'trees at a church told me when I walked by they were ready to give up the ground they were in, later, I found out that church has been planning to grow and cut the trees down to make way for a new building'. ???????? This same woman also says people can commune with animals and plants have feelings. Okaaaay. I think this I will just keep researching, as I have done for years on these types of things. Yes, I have written, asking my questions. HOW can this be? This sounds like witchcraft to me. Is it? Am I just stuck in a set of thoughts that maybe this is true? I understand I do not know a great deal about quantum physics and molecular structures of plants and how God created everything. I GET that. But I'm not stupid either. I'm ready to open my mind to the impossible, heck, I came to believe in Jesus from being a non-Christian right? But there are some things that just don't quite fit. Know what I mean? And why won't anyone answer my questions? As with much teaching on various subjects thru various people....there is a lot of truth in what they teach about God and the 'deeper' things of God. Then they throw in stuff like this. They will ultimately be accountable to God, but what happens to the people who are taking these teachings on faith and trust in these ministries? Yes, we are supposed to search out the Bible for ourselves. And so far, there is NOTHING in scripture that backs up selling oils to put on yourself to bring prosperity into your life. Zip. Nada. Or to make yourself profit. But there is the niggling thing in the back of the brain that doesn't want to miss things of God and wants to delve into the supernatural stuff OF GOD and thinks...ooh whee, this is neato. But are we being led down the garden path to ruin? Have we placed our trust in the wrong ministries? Write to me and tell me what YOU think!
