Jan. 2004 I am dismayed. I am 'one of those'. Those that want information fed to them, without taking the time, the effort and the self discipline to search it out for themselves.

I'm not always this way, but lately have been watching a lot more of Christian t.v., having been laid up with a broken foot. I hear of all these different people writing books on interesting subjects, and instead of searching it out for myself, this morning I searched the internet. Today's subject was the nine covenants of communion. After 15 minutes or so, I found one website that has lists of chapters taken from books written in 1935. Besides the fact that it was a black background with white text, which made it very hard for me to read, I discovered I have become 'one of those'.

I didn't want to take the time to even read that website! Had it been with a lighter background, I would have read some of it, but come on, what's to stop me from cutting and pasting it onto a background I can easily read?

Have I become, in my aging years, a person who no longer searches out the meaning of the Word of God for myself, but reads the results of others' research? God, forbid me to rest on my laurels, continually cause me to delve into your Word, searching out the meanings you present to me. Renew my mind that I may be pleasing in Your sight.

Update Oct. 17, 2004. I am also not as hard on my self as I was above. God is SO faithful!
